…for a while you won’t see Me

[After the Ascension the apostles]… would no longer be able to see Him.  He will be present with the after the Ascension but it will be without sense or feeling – a relationship not dependent on mood or emotion.

So it is with us.  The stages of our relationship with God follows that of the apostles.  It is biblical.  It is something we live.  We can’t, as it were, keep checking up on the relationship anymore than you can keep taking a plant out of the ground to see how it is growing!  It is tempting and false to think of union or contemplation as some ecstatic golden-glory experience.  It is nothing of the kind.  It is an awareness, and as indefinable as the mature human relationship between husband and wife or 2 close friends.
